At Cigna Healthcare, we believe that understanding the forces driving human vitality is the first step toward better health. Our latest Cigna International Health Study: Kenya Edition 2025 reveals a nation anchored by a strong love of learning and deep community roots yet facing intensifying daily pressures.
Kenya’s current story is defined by high personal drive and coping capacity, weighed down by growing financial strain and uneven experiences across different age groups. The study provides a comprehensive view into the factors protecting and threatening the energy of people across Kenya today.
From the urgent demand for mental health support and shifting barriers in healthcare access, to the impact of demanding workplace expectations, this study unpacks the challenges and opportunities defining Kenya’s well-being landscape in 2025.
While the people of Kenya continue to report strong overall well-being, the data points to clear vulnerabilities around financial strain, stress, and access to care.
Kenya maintains a strong vitality score of 79.3, staying stable as the previous year (79.4) and remaining well above the global average of 63.2.
Stress is intensifying, with 9 out of 10 people (87%) reporting stress, up 3 points from the previous year, driven heavily by personal finances and the cost of living.
Kenya achieved an overall well-being score of 63%, up slightly on last year’s(61%) and well above the global average in 2025 of 41%.
Financial health remains a critical vulnerability. Only 15% of people rate their financial well-being positively, standing well below the global average of 24%.
These findings underline why protecting Kenya's vitality requires urgent focus on financial resilience, reducing barriers to healthcare access, and creating more supportive workplace environments.
